2027: Like PDP, APC won’t score 15,000 votes in Kano – Kwankwaso vows

Former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed confidence in his party’s ability to drastically reduce the influence of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso made this declaration during a meeting with NNPP delegates from the Kano North senatorial district at his residence on Miller Road, Kano. He stated that the party is committed to ensuring the APC struggles to secure less than 15,000 votes in Kano, just as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) did in the 2023 elections.

Reflecting on the 2023 polls, Kwankwaso lauded the NNPP’s efforts, noting that the party’s late entry into the political scene did not prevent it from achieving remarkable results. He credited the party’s strategic planning and grassroots mobilization for diminishing the PDP’s presence in the state.

“Our success in the 2023 elections was due to hard work and determination. We will adopt similar strategies to render the APC irrelevant in Kano by 2027,” Kwankwaso said.

“Now, it’s time to diminish APC’s influence. We will work tirelessly to ensure their votes are reduced to less than 15,000 in Kano by 2027,” Kwankwaso stated.

The former governor emphasised the need for dedication and grassroots mobilisation to solidify the NNPP’s position as a dominant political force in Kano and beyond.

He encouraged his supporters to remain focused on delivering results that would secure the party’s success in future elections.

The leader of the delegates, Abdul Bichi, told journalists the visit was to renew their loyalty to the national leader of the NNPP, Kwankwaso, and to distance themselves from former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi.

Abdul said they had parted ways with Dr Bichi since his removal from office.

“It is true we are supporters of the former SSG, and we are from the same constituency as Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi. But we have decided to distance ourselves from him since he is no longer with the government.

“We have come here to see our national leader and founder of Kwankwaso in solidarity and to renew our total loyalty to him. We have come to say we are not leaving our party. We are not going with the SSG,” Abdul said.

Recall that the former SSG, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, was alleged to be brain behind a group clamouring for Governor Abba Yusuf to take full control of the government against alleged interference by Kwankwaso, which led to his suspension by the party in the state and subsequently cost him to lose his position (SSG), although the government claimed it was based on health grounds.
