A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has ordered the remand of former Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, and former Permanent Secretary of the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bello Yero, in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The duo was arrested on September 27 for allegedly misappropriating N27 billion from the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The EFCC accused them of diverting over N1 billion between August 2015 and March 2016 for personal use.

Further investigations revealed additional diversions totaling hundreds of millions between 2019 and 2021.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty, and the court scheduled a hearing on their bail applications for October 3.
