Helen Ukpabio, the President and Founder of Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries, has issued a legal threat against Nigerian singer Emoseh Khamofu, popularly known as Bloody Civilian, over allegations of defamation.

Ukpabio is demanding ₦200 billion in damages, claiming that the singer made defamatory statements that have tarnished her reputation. The specifics of the alleged defamation are yet to be disclosed, but the case has sparked interest due to the high-profile figures involved.

Neither Bloody Civilian nor her representatives have publicly responded to the allegations at this time.

In a letter dated November 25, 2024, retweeted by Bloody Civilian on November 23, 2025, Ukpabio’s lawyers, Victor Ukutt and Co., titled the demand: “Demand for Public Apology and Compensation for the Libel of Imaobong Elijah Ukpabio and Apostle Helen Ukpabio.”

The controversy began when a user, #OneJoblessBoy, tweeted a photo of the pastor on November 22, captioned, “Pastor Helen Ukpabio turns 60 today.” The post attracted 4.6 million views. Bloody Civilian retweeted it, adding, “She literally made people burn their children alive.”

Imaobong Ukpabio, the pastor’s daughter, responded under the handle #ima_Elijah, warning Bloody Civilian to delete the post within five hours or face legal action: “I give you the next five hours to take this down, or I will educate you in court!”

In the letter, signed by Victor Ukutt, the tweets were labelled as “reckless, satanic, and libellous.” The firm stated: “Our clients’ attention has been drawn to your reckless, satanic, and libellous posts on X (formerly Twitter)… Using your verified account, #bloody__civ, on 22 November 2024, you wrote: ‘She literally made people burn their children alive’ and ‘See, she’s gotten banned from the UK for her atrocities,’ among other statements.”

The letter alleged that the claims painted Helen Ukpabio as promoting child killings, encouraging abuse through exorcism, and being unfit for society. It also stated that police and DSS investigations had dismissed the allegations as “grossly false.”
