Kaduna: Gov Uba Sani sacks pioneer security commissioner in major cabinet reshuffle

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has dismissed Samuel Aruwan, the pioneer Commissioner for Internal Security, in a significant cabinet reshuffle.

The announcement was made on Saturday through a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Musa.

Aruwan, appointed by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai in 2019, was instrumental in establishing the Ministry of Internal Security. Before that, he served as El-Rufai’s Senior Special Assistant on Media from 2015 to 2019.

The reshuffle follows a directive from the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in October, which urged Aruwan’s suspension over alleged breaches of trust and false asset declarations. His trial, ongoing since November 8, involves six charges related to undisclosed bank accounts.

James Atung Kanyip has been appointed as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs. Other appointments include:

Farida Abubakar Ahmed – Executive Director, Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC)

Vitus Azuka Ewuzie – Senior Special Assistant, Legal Matters

Francis Damina – Senior Special Assistant, Research and Documentation

Victor Mathew Bobai – Senior Special Assistant, Public Affairs

Abdulmutallib Isah – Senior Special Assistant, Special Duties

Abdulhaleem Ishaq Ringim – Special Assistant, Economic Matters

The reshuffle is seen as part of Governor Sani’s broader strategy to strengthen governance and address key administrative challenges in Kaduna State.
