Police recover vandalized MTN materials, launch manhunt for suspects in Anambra
Police operatives from the Igbo-Ukwu Divisional Police Headquarters in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State have recovered a white Peugeot J5 Boxer bus (registration number AKL 896 XB) loaded with vandalized electrical materials belonging to MTN.
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed in a statement on Monday that the recovery followed the swift response of officers to an incident on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Recovered Items
The vandalized materials included:
A Lister electricity generator
A roller
Pipes
An iron bar
One large plier
A screwdriver
A large metal cutter
A pair of black canvas shoes
Incident Details
The suspects were reportedly vandalizing the Lister model electricity generator attached to an MTN mast located opposite Saint Martin’s Catholic Church, Umudege, Igbo-Ukwu. On sighting the approaching police team, the perpetrators abandoned the materials and fled the scene.
Ongoing Efforts
The police have activated efforts to apprehend the fleeing criminals. SP Tochukwu Ikenga called on residents of the area to assist by providing useful information to aid the investigation.
The Anambra State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public infrastructure and curbing economic sabotage.
