A member of the Labour Party (LP) caucus in the House of Representatives, Ajang Iliya, representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency in Plateau State, has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement was made by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen during Thursday’s plenary, following the reading of a defection letter submitted by Iliya.

In his letter, Iliya attributed his decision to ongoing crises within the Labour Party and his desire to align with the APC’s national development agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This defection comes just days after five other Labour Party members in the House also crossed over to the APC, raising concerns about the LP’s stability and its future in Nigeria’s political landscape.
