Real reason I didn’t attend Shiloh 2024 – Dino Melaye

Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has disclosed why he chose not to attend this year’s Shiloh, the annual convocation of the Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners Chapel.

In a statement shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, Melaye attributed his absence to dissatisfaction with the manner in which Bishop David Abioye, a prominent leader in the church, was reportedly retired.

While refraining from providing detailed commentary on the church’s internal decisions, Melaye expressed his disappointment, stating that the treatment of Bishop Abioye contradicted his expectations.

The Living Faith Church has not yet issued a formal response to the claims. Bishop David Abioye has long been a respected figure within the Winners family, known for his role in spreading the church’s message and values.

“I did not attend Shiloh 2024. Because Shiloh without Bishop Abioye is somehow. I can’t understand why Bishop Oyedepo, who is older, is not retired, and it is Bishop Abioye who is younger that should be forcefully retired. God did not retire Abioye, only Oyedepo did. Let’s watch., ” he said.

News360 Nigeria reports that Abioye alongside another senior Bishop of the church, Thomas Aremu, retired from the Living Faith Church in October 2024 when they turned 63 and 67 respectively.

The retirements follow a review of the church’s administrative policy, called The Mandate.

Retirement age for leaders at the church has been pegged at 55.

Only David Oyedepo, founder of the church, aged 70, can now serve for life, according to the new policy.
