Patrick Omoke, three other Ebonyians promoted to General rank in the Nigerian Army
Four distinguished sons of Ebonyi State have been elevated to the rank of General in the Nigerian Army, marking a significant milestone in their military careers.
1. General Patrick Igwe Omoke:
Hailing from Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area, Omoke has risen to the rank of General, a testament to his dedication and service.
2. General Ogbonnaya Igwe:
From Onicha Local Government Area, Ogbonnaya Igwe’s promotion further highlights the contributions of Ebonyians to national defense.
3. General Charles Nwonyi:
Representing Ezza South Local Government Area, Nwonyi now serves at the Defense Intelligence Agency as a Brigadier General.
4. General Amaechi Agwu:
Also from Okposi in Ebonyi State, Amaechi Agwu has joined the ranks of Brigadier General, cementing his place among the nation’s military leaders.
Nationwide Promotions
The Nigerian Army Council recently approved the promotion of 108 senior officers. This includes 35 Brigadier Generals elevated to Major General and 73 Colonels promoted to Brigadier General.
Among those promoted to Major General are:
Brigadier General A. Garba (Acting Provost Marshal)
Brigadier General U.M. Alkali (Deputy Chief of Administration)
Brigadier General A.G.L. Haruna (Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division)
Brigadier General I.A. Ajose (Acting General Officer Commanding 8 Division)
Prominent Colonels promoted to Brigadier General include:
Colonel S.M. Iliya (Commander, 43 Engineers Brigade)
Colonel O. Igwe (Commander, 78 Supply and Transport)
Colonel N.E. Udofia (Headquarters, Nigerian Army Electrical Mechanical Engineers)
Call for Excellence
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to justify their new ranks through exceptional service.
He emphasized their constitutional duty to defend Nigeria and uphold its sovereignty.
