Woman sets husband on fire in Ogun
A disturbing incident has unfolded in Iperu, Ogun State, where a woman identified as Sarah Ayinde reportedly set her husband, Abidemi Ayinde, ablaze during a heated dispute.
Abidemi, who serves as a special constable with the Ogun State Police Command, was severely injured in the attack.
According to reports, Sarah fled the scene immediately after the incident, leaving her husband to fight for his life.
The state police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the tragic event on Monday. Odutola revealed that the incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 12.
The victim is currently receiving medical care, while efforts are underway to apprehend Sarah and bring her to justice.
This shocking act of domestic violence highlights the need for conflict resolution mechanisms to prevent such tragedies in families.
She said, “On December 12, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., an attempted murder incident occurred in Iperu. Reports indicate that at No. 20 Igboore Street, Abidemi Ayinde, a male special constable with the police division, was set on fire by his wife, Sarah Ayinde, following a minor dispute.
“The victim was quickly taken to Bolawatife Hospital for medical attention and is currently in stable condition.
“The suspect, Sarah Ayinde, remains at large, and efforts are underway to apprehend her,” she added.
