BREAKING: PSC calls for IGP Egbetokun’s sack over recruitment saga

The Joint Union Congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC) has urged President Bola Tinubu to remove Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for allegedly interfering with the recent recruitment of police constables.

During a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, the union accused senior officers within the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) of attempting to manipulate the recruitment process by smuggling names onto the list of recruits.

Union members, while singing protest songs, criticized the NPF’s response as a diversionary tactic aimed at concealing the inadequacies of police training facilities.

They argued that the NPF’s actions were intended to prevent the president from recognizing the unpreparedness of these training schools to properly train new recruits.

This controversy follows the PSC’s release of 10,000 names of successful candidates from the latest recruitment exercise.

The NPF subsequently rejected this list, labeling the recruitment process as fraudulent. The union’s call for the removal of the Inspector General highlights the ongoing tensions and challenges within the police recruitment process.
