Fuel Price Hike: Gov Oyebanji okays work-from-home policy for Ekiti workers

In response to the ongoing economic challenges in Nigeria, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has introduced a work-from-home policy for civil servants to alleviate the burden on workers.

The new arrangement, which takes effect on Monday, September 9, 2024, allows civil servants to work remotely based on their grade levels.

According to Yinka Oyebode, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, officers on levels 01-07 will work from home three days a week, those on levels 08-12 will work two days a week, and officers on levels 13-17 will work from home once a week. However, essential workers, such as teachers, healthcare staff, and security personnel, are exempt from the arrangement.

Each Ministry, Department, and Agency (MDA) is expected to create a work schedule that ensures service delivery is not disrupted. The work-from-home policy will last for two months, with periodic reviews based on the prevailing economic situation.

This initiative complements other palliative measures, including a monthly wage award for workers and pensioners, and free bus services for workers and students. The Oyebanji administration remains dedicated to prioritizing the welfare of Ekiti State workers.
