Paris 2024 Paralympics: Nigeria finishes with seven medals, secures 40th place

Nigeria wrapped up its participation in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, placing 40th in the overall medal standings with a total of seven medals; two gold, three silver, and two bronze.

Among the standout performances, Onyinyechi Mark set a new Paralympic record in the women’s 61kg powerlifting category with a lift of 145kg.

Folashade Oluwafemiayo also claimed gold in the women’s over 86kg powerlifting event.

Bose Omolayo won silver in the women’s up to 79kg Para-powerlifting with a lift of 145kg, while Flora Ugwunwa secured silver in the Women’s Javelin F54 with a throw of 19.26m.

Esther Nworgu rounded out Nigeria’s impressive run with a silver medal in the Powerlifting Women’s up to 41kg category.

Isau Ogunkunle made history by becoming the first Nigerian player to secure an individual medal in Para Table Tennis since the Sydney 2000 Games, winning bronze in the Men’s Singles Class 4 event.
