There is a notable increase in security presence at the palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, following rumors of the monarch’s passing.

The 87-year-old king, who had ruled Ijesaland for 42 years, was reportedly admitted to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife, Osun State, before his death on Wednesday.

Sources close to the palace have confirmed to News360 Nigeria that Oba Aromolaran passed away on Wednesday, though no official statement has been released.

“They are moving personal belongings of the king out of the palace as I am speaking with you.”

Another security source said: “Operatives of Nigeria Police and Department of State Service(DSS) have taken over the palace as we have also shut the gates.”
