Usman Ododo is a native of Kogi State and a member of the Ebira tribe, which is the state’s most prevalent ethnic group. He was born on February 17 1982.

Education

After completing his secondary education at Federal Government College in Okene, he continued his education at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, where he graduated in 2004 with a degree in Political Science.

He completed his Master’s degree in Public Administration at the same university in 2008.

He completed a number of professional courses to augment his academic background, which helped mold and ready him for the demands and pressures of high public office.

They include members of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

Career

Ododo has held a number of positions, such as Chairman of the Kogi State Youth Council, Special Assistant to the Governor, and Member of the Nigerian Youth Parliament.

Governor Yahaya Bello appointed him Auditor General of Kogi State in 2019, a position he held until 2023 when he announced his intention to run for Kogi State governor on the platform of the All Progressive Congress.

After receiving 446, 237 votes more than his opponent from other political parties, Usman Ododo was declared the victor of the Kogi State gubernatorial election that took place on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

The returning officer of the state, Prof. Johnson Urame, proclaimed him the new governor of Kogi State on Sunday, November 12, 2023, following his victory.

Private life

Usman Ododo is a devoted Muslim who is blissfully married to Hajiya Sefinat Ododo. The two of them have a family together.
