A video has surfaced allegedly showing a violent altercation involving Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh, a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives for Aba North and South.

The lawmaker was seen assaulting a Bolt driver who had demanded payment after completing a service.

The incident, marked by heated exchanges, saw Ikwechegh allegedly attempting to intimidate the driver with his political influence, at one point reportedly stating, “Call IGP, record me,” in reference to the Inspector General of Police.

The heated conversation escalated when the driver insisted on payment, sparking aggressive reactions from Ikwechegh. This incident has stirred public concern over the abuse of power by elected officials, with Nigerians calling for accountability and fair treatment for workers in the service industry.

The House of Representatives has yet to release a statement, and advocacy groups have urged the Inspector General of Police to investigate the incident thoroughly, emphasizing that no individual is above the law.
