BREAKING: Bomb explosion rocks Abuja school, kills one student, injures others
Tragedy unfolded in Kuchibiyu, a community in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Monday, January 6, 2025, when a bomb explosion at an Islamiyyah school claimed the life of one student and left four others critically injured.
The explosion, which occurred around noon, disrupted the usually quiet community, situated about 42 kilometers from Abuja’s city center. Emergency responders, including the police bomb disposal unit, arrived promptly at the scene, while the injured students were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
A security source disclosed that the deceased student was allegedly carrying a substance suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) when it detonated. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and official statements from security and police authorities are awaited.
