Bride, four bridesmaids abducted by bandits in Sokoto

Tragedy struck in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Saturday as suspected bandits abducted a newly-wedded bride and four bridesmaids shortly after the wedding ceremony.

The attack took place in Kwaren Gamba near Kuka Teke, a village notorious for repeated assaults by armed groups loyal to the notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji.

Eyewitnesses reported that the armed assailants stormed the area, causing widespread panic among residents as they forcefully abducted the victims. The families of the abductees have been left devastated, while local youths and elders expressed anger and frustration over the recurring insecurity in the region.

Zagazola Makama, a security expert focused on northern Nigeria, described the incident as part of the escalating violence in the area, which continues to undermine the safety of communities.
