The management of BUA Refinery and Petrochemicals has refuted reports claiming that its 200,000 barrels-per-day refinery in Akwa Ibom is 90% complete.

The company clarified that while the refinery is not yet at that stage, significant progress is being made, and the project remains on track to meet its delivery timelines.

“This project is a critical milestone in bolstering Nigeria’s refining capacity and energy security. Although it is not at 90% completion, construction is advancing steadily in collaboration with our partners,” the management stated.

In addition to the refinery, BUA revealed ongoing developments in other energy initiatives, including a mini-LNG plant and hybrid power plants across the country. These projects aim to expand the company’s over 1,000MW installed captive power generation capacity.

Reaffirming its dedication to transparency and excellence, BUA highlighted its track record of completing over 12 mega industrial projects worth $3.5 billion in the past decade.

The company pledged to provide accurate and verifiable updates as milestones are achieved.
