Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman for clinching the CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award.

The Atalanta forward and Super Eagles striker received praise from Akpabio for his exceptional talent, hard work, and dedication.

In addition, Akpabio celebrated Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for being named Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, alongside the Super Falcons for winning the Women’s National Team of the Year Award.

The Senate President’s statement, released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, acknowledged the remarkable contributions of Nigerian footballers on the international stage.

He lauded Nnadozie’s back-to-back recognition as the continent’s best goalkeeper, stating:

“I would also like to celebrate our amiable and talented Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, who has won the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award for the second consecutive year. Her outstanding performance is an inspiration to young Nigerian girls who aspire to excel in sports.”

Commending the Super Falcons for their success, Akpabio added: “Furthermore, I commend the Super Falcons for emerging as the Women’s National Team of the Year. This achievement demonstrates the team’s resilience, teamwork, and commitment to excellence.”

The Senate President highlighted the significance of these victories, noting:

“These awards are not only a proud moment for Nigerian football but also a reflection of our nation’s rich sporting talent. We are honoured to have such exceptional athletes representing Nigeria on the global stage.”

He further pledged the National Assembly’s continued support for sports development in Nigeria:

“The Senate, and indeed the National Assembly under my leadership, will continue to support sports through enabling laws and adequate appropriations to harness all the hidden talents in the country.”

Concluding, Akpabio said: “Once again, I congratulate Ademola Lookman, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and the Super Falcons on their remarkable achievements.”
