A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to 10 #EndBadGovernance protesters who are standing trial on charges of treason.

The protesters, including Michael Adaramoye, Adeyemi Abayomi, and Suleiman Yakubu, among others, were arraigned on September 2, where they pleaded not guilty to six counts of treason, conspiracy to commit felony, inciting mutiny, and intent to destabilize Nigeria.

Justice Emeka Nwite, presiding over the case, granted bail to each defendant on Wednesday, setting the bail at N10 million and requiring one surety with landed property in Abuja.

The case stems from nationwide protests that occurred between August 1–10, which called for reduced governance costs, reinstatement of the petrol subsidy, and food security.

Though the protests were mostly peaceful, they turned violent in some areas, leading to the arrest of the defendants and others.

The court had previously remanded 124 individuals for 60 days pending investigations.
