Edo Guber: LP’s Akpata opens up on stepping down for Ighodalo

The Obidient Movement has firmly denied claims that its governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, has withdrawn from the Edo State governorship race in favor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo.

The denial was issued by Tanko Yunusa, the Interim National Coordinator of the movement, through a WhatsApp message on Friday.

Yunusa refuted the circulating rumors and dismissed a viral letter suggesting Akpata had stepped down.

The letter falsely claimed that Akpata had agreed to support Governor Godwin Obaseki’s protégé, Ighodalo, ahead of the election scheduled for Saturday. Yunusa labeled the letter a fabricated document with misleading information aimed at swaying voters.

He reassured supporters that Akpata remains firmly in the race, urging voters to disregard the false reports and to continue supporting the Obidient Movement’s candidate.

He said, “They are used to stealing the people’s votes. The letter was unintelligently written. The letter was written on the 20th of September and signed on the 29th of July.

“Every day is for the thief, one day for the owner of the house.”
