Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji unveils N376bn 2025 ‘Budget of Sustainable Impact’

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill with a budget estimate of N376 billion to the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

The proposed budget, titled “Budget of Sustainable Impact,” outlines the government’s priorities, focusing on food security, wealth creation, and the welfare of Ekiti residents.

In the budget breakdown, Governor Oyebanji allocated N183.5 billion for capital expenditure, which makes up 49% of the total budget, while recurrent expenditure stands at N192.3 billion, representing 59% of the budget.

The governor stated that the budget’s primary objectives are to create sustainable prosperity and grow Ekiti’s economy by empowering citizens with necessary skills, generating employment for youth and women, and enhancing access to Information Communication Technology (ICT).

“This budget aims to equip our people with the skills they need, create jobs, and expand the opportunities available to everyone in Ekiti State,” Oyebanji remarked. Through these initiatives, the state government hopes to foster sustainable development and improve the quality of life for all residents.

“The proposed 2025 budget was prepared in line with global best practices and enabling policy frameworks.

“The 2025 budget has been carefully prepared to consolidate on ongoing capital projects and address the temporary economic hardship”.

Governor Oyebanji said the budget would be funded by the federal allocation, VAT, Independent Revenue, from MDAs, tertiary institutions, international donors agencies and other Sunday income sources.

In his welcome address, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aderiye Aribasoye, assured Ekiti people that the lawmakers would consider the quick passage of the budget diligently.

He noted that every naira allocated in the budget would serve the best needs of Ekiti people.
