El-Rufai opens up on alleged defection to PDP

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has debunked claims suggesting he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

A close associate of the former governor described the rumors as baseless and a fabrication by detractors. The aide stressed that El-Rufai, known for his transparency in political matters, would make such a decision public if it were true.

El-Rufai also took to his verified X account (formerly Twitter) to refute the speculation. He urged the public to disregard the rumors and confirmed that legal action has been initiated against individuals spreading the false information.

He wrote: “Please disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers,” El-Rufai posted on Sunday.
