Emir of Ningi, Yunusa Danyaya, passes on at 88

The Emir of Ningi, Yunusa Danyaya, has passed away at the age of 88 after battling a long illness.

He died early Sunday morning at Expert Alliance Hospital in Kano.

Alhaji Usman Sule, the Secretary of the Ningi Emirate Council, confirmed the emir’s death in a statement, noting that Danyaya had just returned from a medical trip to Mecca on August 22. His passing occurred only two days after his return.

A funeral prayer for the late emir is scheduled to take place at his palace in Ningi at 4:00 pm today.

Yunusa Danyaya, who became the Emir of Ningi in 1978, was a respected traditional ruler in Bauchi State. His reign was characterized by notable advancements in both the social and economic development of the emirate.

Born in Ningi in 1936, Danyaya had an extensive educational background, attending Ningi Elementary School (1941-1946), Bauchi Middle School (1946-1951), the School of Hygiene in Kano (1951), and completing a Public Administration course at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (1956-1957).
