End to road block for checking papers: Nigeria Police list benefits of E-CMR innovation

The Nigeria Police Force has highlighted the advantages of its new Electronic Central Motor Registry (E-CMR) system, aimed at transforming vehicle information verification and tracking processes, especially in cases of theft.

In a statement shared by Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the E-CMR innovation will eliminate the need for manual document checks, as officers will now have access to real-time technology for verifying vehicle documents.

One of the key benefits, according to Adejobi, is the ability to instantly flag a stolen vehicle through an online profile, which will aid in faster recovery.

This digitalized system follows the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, who in July ordered the enforcement of the E-CMR.

The initiative is part of efforts to modernize Nigeria’s motor vehicle registration system and enhance national safety and security.
