Paschal Obi, a former House of Representatives member for Ideato North and South Federal Constituency, has officially defected from the Labour Party (LP) back to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obi was welcomed into the APC fold by the state party’s expanded executive team, led by Chairman Macdonald Ebere, after formalizing his membership at the ward and local government levels.

In his remarks, Obi attributed his decision to return to APC to the infrastructural strides achieved under Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration. He also commended the party’s grassroots performance in recent local government elections, which he credited to the leadership of Ebere.

“I am encouraged by the development efforts of Governor Uzodinma and the exemplary leadership of the APC at the grassroots. I assure you of my unwavering support and loyalty to the party,” Obi stated.

Ebere, in his response, lauded Obi’s decision to rejoin the party, emphasizing its readiness to work with all returning members.

Obi was accompanied by key political stakeholders from Ideato South, signaling strong local support for his move.

More to come.
