Ghana dumps visa requirement, permits free entry for Africans

Ghana will officially become a visa-free destination for all African nationals starting early 2025, following the approval of the policy by President Nana Akufo-Addo in December 2024.

The initiative, announced during the Africa Prosperity Dialogues, is aimed at fostering stronger ties across the continent, enhancing tourism, trade, and travel in the West African nation.

Before this decision, Ghana offered visa-free entry to citizens of 26 African nations and visas on arrival to travelers from 25 others, with only two African countries requiring pre-arranged visas.

With this landmark move, Ghana joins Rwanda, Seychelles, Gambia, and Benin as the fifth African country to grant visa-free access to all holders of African passports, promoting regional integration and mobility across the continent.
