Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the appointments of Prince Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijeshaland and Prince Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye as the Asaoni of Ora Igbomina.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, announced the approvals in a statement on Friday, noting that they were ratified during the Osun State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Adeleke.

“The approval of the two monarchs was ratified and approved during the seating of the Osun State Executive Council Meeting,” Alimi said.

Prince Haastrup was elected as the Owa Obokun Adimula by the kingmakers of the Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House in a voting process held at the Ilesa West Local Government Secretariat. His appointment follows the demise of Oba (Dr.) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II on September 11, 2024.

Similarly, Prince Abikoye was appointed Asaoni of Ora Igbomina after the passing of Oba Tinuoye Atolagbe on November 19, 2023.

Governor Adeleke, while congratulating the newly appointed monarchs, called on the indigenes of Ijeshaland and Ora Igbomina to cooperate with their traditional leaders and prioritize peace and unity.

“The governor enjoins indigenes of the two towns to cooperate with their new traditional rulers, particularly in allowing peace and unity to take centre stage,” the statement read.

The new appointments are expected to bring renewed stability and development to the communities while preserving their cultural heritage.
