Gunmen abduct 50 women, children in Zamfara community
In a tragic incident, gunmen abducted 50 women and children during a raid on Kakin Dawa, a village in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the incident, revealing that the victims were kidnapped in the early hours of Sunday.
The police stated that security operatives have since been deployed to the area to ensure the safety of residents and pursue the kidnappers.
According to Hassan Ya’u, a villager who escaped the attack, the gunmen arrived on motorcycles around 1:30 a.m., forcibly entering homes and taking residents hostage. Ya’u, whose younger sister was among those abducted, described the ordeal as devastating.
Ya’u said: “Later we found out that they kidnapped more than 50 women, including married women and girls.
“We are appealing to the federal and Zamfara state governments to send more soldiers and security personnel to fight those bandits.”
Another resident of the village, Abdulkadir Sadia, said: “The entire community is in distress.
“We are currently waiting to hear the kidnappers’ demands for the release of the abducted individuals.”
