Donald Trump’s dramatic re-election as the 47th President of the United States has sparked optimism within Israel, as officials anticipate strengthened American support amid the escalating Middle East conflict.

The Israeli government expressed confidence in Trump’s backing, recalling his firm alliance with Israel during his previous term from 2017 to 2021.

In Abuja, Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, marked the one-year anniversary of the October 7th, 2023 massacre of Israelis by Hamas with the screening of a commemorative documentary.

Speaking at the event, Freeman voiced concerns over Iran’s alleged destabilizing influence in West Africa, particularly in Nigeria.

Freeman accused Iran of fueling insecurity in the region and highlighted the urgency of addressing these threats.

He claimed that Iran’s destabilizing efforts extend beyond the Middle East, aiming to spread unrest across Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria.

Reflecting on the past year, Freeman emphasized that Hamas still holds 101 Israeli children, women, and elderly citizens hostage.

He also expressed appreciation for international solidarity, especially from the United States, which he described as Israel’s closest ally. Freeman stressed the importance of freeing all hostages and establishing new governance over the Gaza Strip.
