Jimenez’s double penalty secures Fulham 2-2 draw against Ipswich
Raul Jimenez delivered under pressure with two stoppage-time penalties, salvaging a 2-2 draw for Fulham against Ipswich in a thrilling Premier League encounter.
Despite Fulham’s dominance in possession, Ipswich took a first-half lead when Sammie Szmodics capitalized on a rebound after Ben Johnson’s header hit the crossbar.
The game burst into life in the second half, with controversy marking all three penalties awarded.
Fulham leveled the match when referee Darren Bond reversed his initial decision after reviewing a challenge by Ipswich captain Sam Morsy on Harry Wilson. Jimenez stepped up and calmly converted from the spot.
However, Ipswich regained their lead just moments later. Fulham’s Timothy Castagne fouled Liam Delap in a clumsy clearance attempt, and Delap converted emphatically for his eighth league goal this season.
Jack Clarke nearly sealed victory for Ipswich when his shot struck the post, but Fulham responded swiftly.
Jimenez was fouled by Leif Davis, and the Mexican striker showed no nerves, blasting his second penalty into the top corner to secure Fulham’s eighth consecutive unbeaten league game.
Fulham remain ninth in the Premier League standings, while Ipswich sit 18th, tied on points with Wolves, who are just above the relegation zone.
