Macron unveils Jersey, other gifts for Tinubu (video)

French President Emmanuel Macron presented Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with a symbolic gift during Tinubu’s state visit: Kylian Mbappé’s iconic number 10 France jersey.

The gesture underscores the strong diplomatic relationship between the two nations, News360 Nigeria reports.

The number 10 jersey, famously worn by the Paris Saint-Germain star, holds special significance given Mbappé’s global appeal and the deep passion for football in Nigeria.

In a video shared online, Macron proudly displayed the jersey, saying, “Number 10 like [Kylian] Mbappé,” bringing smiles from President Tinubu.

“It’s a great honour for France, dear President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT), to welcome you for this state visit as a major partner and friend of today and tomorrow.

“It still makes me very happy to remember that I was once a young intern at the French Embassy in Nigeria back then.” he said in Pidgin English.

Alongside presenting the iconic number 10 jersey of Kylian Mbappé, Macron gifted both President Tinubu and the First Lady with additional items, symbolizing the deepening ties between Nigeria and France.
