Many feared dead as speeding vehicle rams into Anambra market

A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday at Oye Agu Market in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, resulting in the deaths of several people.

A speeding vehicle reportedly lost control and crashed into the busy market, causing widespread devastation.

Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle, a Sienna, caused significant damage, with goods destroyed and multiple lives feared lost.

A video circulating online shows the wreckage and the aftermath, including crushed goods such as tomatoes strewn across the road.

Engr. Ben Okongwu, President-General of Abagana community, confirmed the incident, stating that at least three people have died.

He explained that the accident occurred after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

While the community is in mourning, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson, RC Margaret Onabe, has yet to receive an official report on the accident.

The incident has prompted calls for enhanced road safety measures to prevent future tragedies.
