Kylian Mbappe marked his first Champions League appearance for Real Madrid with a goal as the reigning champions secured a 3-1 victory over Stuttgart on Tuesday, kicking off their title defense in style.

Mbappe opened the scoring just seconds into the second half, reaching five goals in seven appearances across all competitions this season.

Stuttgart responded with a goal from Deniz Undav, but Antonio Rudiger’s 83rd-minute header restored Madrid’s lead.

In stoppage time, 18-year-old Brazilian forward Endrick sealed the win with a low drive, making an impact on his Champions League debut.

Despite a strong first-half performance by Stuttgart, Real Madrid’s resilience saw them grind out the victory, with coach Carlo Ancelotti praising the team for their fighting spirit.

“We suffered at the start because we lost a lot of duels… but we won, and that’s what matters,” Ancelotti said.

Mbappe, happy to get on the scoresheet, added, “I know I can do more… It’s always difficult in the Champions League, but we won the first game at home, which is important.”

Madrid’s defense was temporarily patched up with full-back Dani Carvajal playing centrally, while Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni returned to the midfield following injuries.

Thibaut Courtois made several crucial saves to keep Stuttgart at bay, but Madrid’s clinical finishing and defensive composure ultimately secured the three points.

Madrid now focus on maintaining their momentum as they continue their quest for a record 16th Champions League title.
