Miyetti Allah Chairman, Amadu Surajo, killed in terror attack, wife, daughter abducted
Suspected terrorists have killed Alhaji Amadu Surajo, the Acting Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Katsina State.
The tragic attack, which also claimed the lives of three others and left several injured, occurred late Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday in Mai Rana village, Kusada Local Government Area.
The assailants abducted Surajo’s first and second wives, along with one of his daughters, a university undergraduate. However, reports indicate that the first wife was later released.
Before his death, Surajo served as the state secretary of MACBAN and assumed the role of acting chairman after the mysterious disappearance of the National Vice President and state Chairman, Munnir Lamido, in June 2024. Lamido had gone missing while traveling to Kaduna State, with his abandoned vehicle and phones discovered later, but his whereabouts remain unknown.
Security forces have been deployed to Mai Rana village to restore order and investigate the attack. The remains of Surajo and the other victims are set to be buried on Sunday morning in accordance with Islamic rites, while the injured are receiving medical treatment.
Although Kusada is generally considered a secure area, this incident has raised concerns, with some speculating that the attack may have been driven by motives beyond terrorism or banditry. The police command in Katsina State has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
