The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a series of successful airstrikes targeting bandit camps in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, reportedly killing several bandits, including notorious leaders Ado Aliero and Dan Umaru.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication, the strikes were executed by the air component of Operation Fasan Yamma. Intelligence sources confirmed that the operation disrupted bandit activities, neutralized high-value targets, and destroyed key planning hubs used for launching attacks.

One of the targets, Dan Umaru’s residence, was reportedly engulfed in flames, dealing a significant blow to the terrorists’ network.

The north-west region has faced persistent insurgency and banditry for over a decade, prompting intensified military operations. In September, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) eliminated notorious bandit kingpin Kachallah Buzu and his fighters in Zamfara. Additionally, the NAF thwarted a terrorist attack in Shiroro LGA of Niger State, killing at least 28 bandits.

The recent strikes underscore the Nigerian military’s commitment to curbing banditry and restoring security in the region.
