NDLEA intercepts cocaine, opioids concealed in sanitary pads

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted multiple consignments of illegal drugs, including cocaine and pharmaceutical opioids, concealed in ladies’ sanitary pads and hair treatment cream containers.

These shipments were destined for the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Cyprus.

According to a statement from the Director of Media and Advocacy, the agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation recovered 1.1 kilograms of cocaine hidden in hair cream containers during a cargo inspection at a logistics company on September 3, 2024.

This shipment was intended for Ireland.

On September 6, 2024, the NDLEA intercepted another consignment of 24 parcels containing 862 grams of cocaine, also concealed in hair cream containers, destined for the UK. Additionally, on September 3, 2024, 525 pills of tramadol (225mg) and ecstasy (MDMA), concealed in sanitary pads, were seized from a courier firm in Lagos, en route to Cyprus.

The agency also reported the seizure of 200 ampoules of promethazine and pentazocine injections, hidden within food items and herbs, which were headed to London, UK. This seizure occurred on September 4, 2024.
