Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, has condemned claims by Niger Republic’s military leader, Abdourahamane Tchiani, that Nigeria is colluding with France to destabilize his country.

Bwala described the accusations as “despicable propaganda” aimed at inciting distrust among northern Nigerians against President Tinubu.

In a video shared on his X page, Bwala criticized Tchiani’s claims as baseless and misleading.

“The military head of state of Niger has resorted to cheap falsehoods and propaganda because he is failing to address the economic situation in his country,” Bwala stated.

Tchiani, in an earlier interview, alleged that France had paid a substantial sum to President Tinubu to establish a military base in Nigeria.

These remarks, delivered in a northern Nigerian dialect, sparked concerns about their intent to stir division within the region.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, also dismissed the allegations as unfounded.

Bwala emphasized Nigeria’s history of leadership in West Africa and its commitment to fostering regional stability and bilateral cooperation.

He noted that such accusations are typical of military regimes attempting to shift focus from their internal challenges.

“The choice of language by the Niger leader is calculated to create chaos and bad blood in northern Nigeria against the President, possibly in collaboration with some Nigerian politicians,” Bwala said.

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its stance on maintaining peace and strong relations with neighboring countries, dismissing the allegations as a distraction from Niger’s internal issues.
