Nigerian-American rapper OG Maco passes away at 32
Benedict Ihesiba Jr., popularly known as OG Maco, has tragically passed away at the age of 32, just weeks after being hospitalized.
The rapper’s family confirmed the news on Instagram on December 27, describing his life as “a testament to resilience, creativity, and boundless love.”

On December 16, his family revealed that Maco was in “critical but stable condition” at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
His manager, Poppa Perc, shared with AllHipHop that Maco was on life support and undergoing tests at the time, requesting prayers as the rapper fought for his life.
The hip-hop community mourns the loss of a unique and talented artist whose impact will not be forgotten.
Known for his 2014 breakout hit “U Guessed It,” OG Maco rose to fame with Quality Control, collaborating with artists like Diplo and Migos and joining XXL’s 2015 Freshman Class.
Despite personal challenges, including a car accident in 2016 and a severe skin condition in 2019, his family says his impact “will remain forever etched in our hearts.”
