Ondo Police nab 19 over cult killings in Owo
Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have apprehended 19 individuals linked to the recent killings of four people in Owo community, Owo Local Government Area.
Among the victims was Fisayo Oladipo, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.
The tragic incident, believed to be cult-related, occurred on Monday, prompting swift intervention by law enforcement. The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Wilfred Afolabi, confirmed the arrests during a visit to Owo to assess the situation.
Afolabi, who officially assumed his role as the new Commissioner of Police on Tuesday, also inspected the enforcement of the curfew imposed by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to restore order.
He assured residents that peace has been reestablished in the community.
“We are in Owo this morning to monitor the level of compliance with the curfew imposed on the town by the state government.
“So far so good normalcy has returned to the town and there is calm and peace across the town.
“So far we have 19 suspects in our custody and we have only four people confirmed death in our record,” he said.
“And for the lover of peace, we can assure them that there will be conducive environment for them.
“But for those who hate peace they will not find it easy with us because whenever they go to we will follow them and laws of the land will caught them.”
