Opay, PalmPay, others resume registration of new customers, six weeks after CBN’s restriction

The Central Bank of Nigeria has lifted the six-week ban on onboarding new customers for Paga, moniepoint, Kuda, OPay, and PalmPay services.

It should be noted that on April 29, the Apex Bank barred the aforementioned MFBs/FinTechs from creating new accounts or registering new customers, citing claims that they were being used to funnel cryptocurrency and manipulate the naira’s value.

According to updates from the Fintech banks, their statements reads;

PalmPay Resumes Onboarding of New Customers
