PL: Diallo’s late strike holds Man United to 2-2 draw against Liverpool

Manchester United defied their recent struggles with a spirited performance to hold Premier League leaders Liverpool to a dramatic 2-2 draw at Anfield on Sunday.  

In a match brimming with tension and excitement, Amad Diallo was the hero for United, netting a stunning 80th-minute equaliser that secured a valuable point for Ruben Amorim’s side.

Despite Liverpool’s dominance in the title race, United showed grit and resilience, providing a glimpse of a brighter future in 2025.

Lisandro Martinez opened the scoring for United in the 52nd minute, unleashing a ferocious shot from a tight angle.

However, Liverpool responded swiftly, with Cody Gakpo producing a sublime curled effort in the 59th minute to level the score.

Mohamed Salah then converted from the penalty spot to put Liverpool ahead, only for Diallo to sweep home the equaliser ten minutes from time.

The final moments of the match were frenetic, with both sides pushing for a winner. Harry Maguire had the opportunity to secure a last-gasp victory for United but sent his effort over the bar with the final kick of the game.

Liverpool remain at the top of the table with 46 points from 19 games, maintaining a six-point lead over Arsenal with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, United climbed to 13th place with 23 points, offering their fans a glimmer of hope for an improved second half of the season.
