Real reason couples should date for 10 years before marriage – Singer Wiz Khalifa
American rapper and singer-songwriter Wiz Khalifa has sparked conversations about relationships by suggesting couples should date for a decade before getting married.
As a father of two, Wiz emphasized that a 10-year dating period provides enough time to truly understand a partner and build meaningful connections with their families.
During a recent appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast, he shared his perspective: “People should date for 10 years before getting married because that’s long enough to know the person, their family, and who you’re going to deal with when you move in together.”
When asked by host Shannon Sharpe if couples should live together before marriage, the 37-year-old rapper offered a balanced take on the matter, leaving room for personal choice and circumstances.
“It depends on the situation and the circumstances. Some people move in right away and still need time to figure it out.”
Wiz Khalifa has cemented his place in music history with an impressive discography that includes seven studio albums, one compilation album, one soundtrack album, three extended plays (EPs), two collaborative albums, 84 singles (including 44 as a featured artist), 17 promotional singles, 21 mixtapes, and 82 music videos.
Khalifa began his career by signing with the Pittsburgh-based independent label Rostrum Records as a teenager. His debut mixtape, Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania, and his first studio album, Show and Prove (2006), marked the start of his ascent.
In 2007, Warner Bros. Records partnered with Rostrum to sign Khalifa, leading to the release of singles like “Youngin’ on His Grind” and “Say Yeah”. The latter became his first Billboard-charting song, peaking at number 20 on the US Hot Rap Songs chart.
Wiz Khalifa’s thoughtful reflections on relationships and his illustrious music career continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
