Renowned journalist Rafat Salami passes on in Abuja
The Nigerian journalism community has been thrown into mourning following the passing of Rafat Salami, a prominent journalist with Voice of Nigeria (VON) and former Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council.
The Kogi State-born journalist, celebrated for her dedication to union affairs and her passionate advocacy against the stigmatization of children with special needs, reportedly passed away on Friday morning in Abuja.
Sources revealed that Salami had been battling illness for several weeks and was receiving treatment at a hospital in Abuja before her demise.
Her death has left a void in the media landscape, with an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, friends, and admirers, who described her as a beacon of professionalism, compassion, and resilience.
