Rivers: APC will grab power from PDP in 2027 – Ganduje

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared the party’s determination to wrestle Rivers State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 elections.

Speaking in Port Harcourt during the inauguration of the APC State Working Committee on Saturday, Ganduje outlined the party’s goal to increase its presence in the South-South by bringing Rivers State into its fold.

He was accompanied by top party officials, including the South-South National Vice Chairman, Victor Giadom, who expressed confidence in the newly inaugurated executives.

The party’s National Legal Adviser administered the oath of office to the Tony Okocha-led State Executive Committee.

However, questions linger over the legality of the process, as a court judgment recognizing Emeka Beke as the APC chairman in Rivers State remains unresolved.

Despite the ongoing legal tussle, Ganduje reaffirmed the party’s focus on uniting its members and securing electoral victories in 2027. The APC currently controls two states in the South-South and aims to expand its influence in the region.

The legal dispute casts uncertainty over the party’s plans heading into 2025, with the National Working Committee’s recognition of Okocha’s leadership potentially clashing with the court ruling.
