Cristiano Ronaldo has once again cemented his place in football history, becoming the first player to score 900 top-level career goals during Portugal’s Nations League opener against Croatia.

The 39-year-old legend volleyed in from close range in the 34th minute, doubling Portugal’s lead from a well-placed Nuno Mendes cross.

This milestone marked his 131st goal for the national team, a record that spans 20 years since his first international strike.

Ronaldo, moved by the moment, celebrated on his knees.

Earlier in the game, Diogo Dalot gave Portugal the lead, but a mistake from the Manchester United defender allowed Croatia to pull one back before halftime.

Ronaldo’s illustrious career includes goals for clubs such as Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and his current team, Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

Portugal now shares the top spot in League A Group 1 with Poland, who secured a win over Scotland.
