Suicide Bomber strikes mourning gathering in Borno as ISWAP deploys drones in separate attack
Borno State faced dual tragedies this week as a Boko Haram suicide bomber infiltrated a mourning gathering in Dalori, near Maiduguri, killing at least two people and injuring three others.
The bomber struck on Wednesday while residents gathered to mourn a community member killed during a Boko Haram attack on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion caused chaos, claiming two lives and leaving several others injured.
Borno Police spokesperson, Nahum Daso, confirmed the incident, stating, “A bomb attack was reported in Dalori, but normalcy has returned to the area.”
In a separate incident, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) launched an innovative assault on a military base in Wajiroko, Damboa Local Government, using drones armed with grenades. The attack occurred late Tuesday, shortly after troops repelled an initial assault by ISWAP terrorists armed with heavy weaponry.
Military sources disclosed that five soldiers sustained injuries, and equipment at the base was damaged in the drone assault. The Nigerian military has yet to release an official statement on the Wajiroko attack.
