In a significant political shift, thousands of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members in Kaduna, loyal to Senator Shehu Sani, have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors, drawn from all 23 local government areas of the state, gathered at the APC 2023 Campaign Office in NEPA Roundabout, carrying posters of Senator Sani in a show of support.

The group, led by former campaign director Mr. Monday Jaji, expressed their belief that Senator Sani would soon officially join the APC, citing his track record of achievements during his tenure as Senator of Kaduna Central on the APC platform.

Jaji revealed that efforts to convince Sani to return to the APC had been ongoing for over two years.

This move underscores the growing political realignment in Kaduna as the APC strengthens its base ahead of future elections.

Jaji said “When he was a Senator, Comrade Shehu Sani built seven hospitals across his constituency. He distributed over 200 transformers to communities, assisted the poor masses, and even bought a house for the destitute on Kano road.”

“Shehu Sani built a hospital in Chikun and built 3 in Igabi Local Government, Rigachikun, and Giwa Local Government,” he said.

While receiving the defectors, Kaduna State Chairman of the APC, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (Rtd ) expressed happiness about the return of the defectors to the APC, saying that coming to the party will propel the APC and Kaduna State to greater heights.

Senator Shehu Sani who represented Kaduna Central in the upper chamber of the National Assembly from 2015 to 2019, was a PDP gubernatorial aspirant during the 2023 general election.
