Tinubu leading Nigeria from consumption to production – Eniola Badmus

Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has expressed her admiration for Nigeria’s economic progress under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

She praised the administration for fostering a shift in the country’s trade balance, with imports decreasing and exports increasing, signaling an expanding economy.

Badmus highlighted that this positive change demonstrates Nigeria’s transition from a consumption-based economy to a production-focused one.

According to the actress, the trade sector has seen unprecedented growth under Tinubu’s leadership, a key indicator of progress in the nation’s economic development.

The actress’s remarks align with ongoing discussions about the administration’s efforts to promote domestic production and boost exports in various sectors.

On her Instagram story, she wrote: “Our imports are reducing, and our exports are increasing. That is a sign that our economy is expanding.

“For the year-to-date 2024, our imports were N24.44 trillion, while our exports stood at N38.59 trillion. This gives us an unprecedented trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months.

“It has never happened in Nigeria. Never. This is a refreshing shift from consumption to production.”

Her appraisal is against the backdrop of unprecedented hardship and inflation in the country.

Last month, millions of citizens demonstrated against the worsening hardship in the country in a movement tagged ‘End Hunger Protests.’
