Tinubu to present 2025 Budget to National Assembly Today
President Bola Tinubu is set to present the 2025 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly on Tuesday.
This was announced by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, during the plenary on Thursday.
The presentation will take place at the House of Representatives Chamber and will outline the administration’s financial plans for the coming year.
Proposed 2025 Budget Highlights
The Federal Government had earlier proposed a total expenditure of ₦47.9 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year. The budget is based on the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP), which was approved by the Senate on December 3.
Key parameters of the 2025 budget include:
Oil Price Benchmark: $75 per barrel.
Daily Oil Production: 2.06 million barrels per day (bpd).
Exchange Rate: ₦1,400 to $1.
GDP Growth Rate: Targeted at 6.4%.
New Borrowing Plan: ₦9.22 trillion (domestic and foreign borrowings).
Framework for Economic Stability
The MTEF/FSP provides a three-year projection for government spending and serves as a foundation for the annual budget. It aims to address economic challenges while boosting growth and stability.
The 2025 budget presentation is a critical step in ensuring that Nigeria’s economic goals are aligned with the realities of current fiscal policies.
